Here's the thing guys. Whatever should be said has been said by the both of them. Read through their posts if you haven't because almost all of it makes alot of sense.
But here's something I saw at rehearsals that I need you to remember:
1)I saw Tinkerbell teaching 3 Lostboys how to do the loudest shout so that next time they were in a battle, they'd be able to give out a war cry worthy of a Lostboy. Tinkerbell and Lost Boys were finally becoming one and I was amazed to see that. It's something that we'd all hoped for but seeing it happen, the family finally getting tight is worth it. That's what's important. Because when you're acting out on that stage, you're only going to have them by your side to support you.
2)I saw Christine learning new things from Mdm Kalyani. She is doing something she's never done before and by god, she's doing it well. The costumes this year are something to be looking forward to and Christine putting in effort to learn the new skills.
3) Praven has been working on music with Idham all week long. Despite the mixer being spoilt, he is finding other ways to make things work. Music this year is fantastic and wonderful to hear. It may be taking awhile but good things take time....and the mixer needs to be fixed ; ) But fear not Neverlanders, the mixer will be well and ready by this coming weekend.
4) Captain Hook and Peterpan are having so much fun doing their fight choreo and watching it live was better than expected. Ofcourse some tightening needs to be done but hell! For the time that you'll have had, this is a job well done. I can imagine the looks on the children's faces when they watch that scene : )
5) Naathan and Sheetal have been working hard ensuring you have a good schedule to come to on Saturdays. And so far most of you'll have stuck to it and turned up! But for those who haven't but have let them both know that because of illness and unforseen circumstances you cannot turn up that's fine. But for those who aren't even letting them know if you can turn up, letting us discover on our own where you are, watch it. Because this is a team you are working with. And if you don't act like a team, you shouldn't be part of the team.
6) Serena, Naathan and myself have been moving sets around constantly. Due to the change in date of the production, alot of things have changed. We can't start buidling too early because the sets might get destroyed and at the same time we have to protect the ones we already have. We have been moving around like mad people, shifting things from one corner to another, breaking pieces apart and throwing them away all without complaining...well except to each other ofcourse ; )But at the end of the day, the sets will be ready for the musical and you will love it.
7) Ghauthaman and me and have been meeting up (Sometimes Serena) to settle the tech script on Mondays. After work/School, we both drag our sorry butts to coffee bean or the CC to discuss the lights and sound.
8) Yoga and Naathan have been working hard getting sponsors with positive results so far. And they have done it will little or no experience in this field.
9) Kanages, Kanitha and Sameer have been learning their dances over weekday nights. Colin meets up with Kanages and he and I take turns to meet up with Kanitha and Sameer to teach them their choreo. All 3 have been putting in a 100% to learn the choreo and have not once complained about the timings we have to meet to teach or learn the dance.
So what's the point of me telling you this?
So many things go on behind the scenes, on weekday nights and weekends. So many things that are being done to ensure this production works. The crew is small but hardworking. The cast is large with lots of energy. We need to merge it all up and make sure we are eqaully energetic and hardworking.
Serena and Mustafah asked me yesterday. "Which do you think is harder? Being the backstage crew or a cast member?" Serena reminded me that I had once said that being a cast member was harder.
See, being a crew is tough. Tying up all the loose ends and making sure everything is ready isn't easy at all. But here's why being a cast member is as hard, on the day of the musical, the cast is what brings the musical to life. And if they can't do it, what the crew has worked for goes down the drain.
So being a cast is hardwork. You have to find the essence of your character and bring it out during show time.
I know you can do it. So work harder, fight harder, Sing harder and dance harder. Remember this.
